Constitution
1. Definition
Kingsley Hall Church and Community Centre is an Evangelical Free Church whose doctrinal basis is described in the Basis of Belief.
2. Church Objective
2:1 To teach and establish the people of God through faith
Through weekly ministry
Local witness and works
All means honouring to God in accordance with the Bible
2:2 To serve the local and wider community through Christian evangelism
Without distinctions of social status, gender, ethnicity, attitude or lifestyle
Through acts of service
Through means honouring to God in accordance with the Bible
2:3 Support Christian organisations and those who bring healing and wholeness to people
Attend, run, and facilitate training sessions, sharing and counselling as required
Conduct pastoral visits as necessary
2:4 Maintain the highest standards of Christian integrity
In all activities, including compliance with all relevant legislation
Practice wise stewardship of all resources
3. Organisation
3.1 Trustees
Provision exists for four Trustees who should between them elect a Chair
Each Trustee will have equal voting power, but the Chair will retain a casting vote if required to break deadlock
The Trustees are responsible for the recruitment of the Pastor
The Chair of Trustees will be responsible for line management of the Pastor, (Employment and Church) and report accordingly to the board of Trustees
The Trustees of Kingsley Hall are to assist the Pastor in the care and spiritual leadership of the Church
3.2 Deacons
The Pastor may nominate two Deacons (Secretary and Tresurer) for approval by the trustees (by majority decision) to assist in practical administration
The term of office for a Deacon will be one year
4. The Pastor
4.1 Recruitment
The Trustees will be responsible for appointing the Pastor of the church
4.2 Pastoral Responsibilities
It is the responsbility of the Pastor to ensure adequate shepherding of all ages in the church, community centre, and associated groups in accordance with the Church Objective defined in section 2
Conduct preaching, teaching, and mission activities to meet the calling of the church in an appropriate manner that relates to the people
4.3 Disciplinary Measure
If the Pastor ceases to hold to the doctrinal basis of the Church, or is suspected of dishonest or immoral conduct or other such offence the Trustees will investigate the matter in accordance with the Disciplinary Procedure associated with the Pastor's Contract of Employment
5. Church membership
People become a part of the Church as they commit themselves to Jesus Christ, proclaiming Him as their Lord.
5.1 Membership is open to those who:
- Profess repentance towards God and have Faith in Jesus Christ and
- Agree with the "Church Constitution and Basis of Belief" and
- Whose lives bear evidence of their Christian faith and
have worshipped at the Church for at least six months.
5:2 Discipline or Withdrawal of Membership
Should it become necessary to consider the discipline or withdrawal of membership from a member the model in Matt 18:15-20 should be followed by the Pastor supported by a Trustee.
